Community Wide Fitness Events in April
One of the goals of Mayor’s Fitness Challenge (MFC) is motivating Tulsans to live healthier lifestyles. Coming up in April, two of our valued MFC partners will be hosting big-time events that promote fun, physical activities for you and your family. Check out these great Mayor’s Fitness Challenge running and walking events in April:
Get Fit Tulsa takes place Saturday, April 12 at 11th and South Harvard. The 1k Fun Run begins at 8:10 a.m., followed by a 5k run at 8:30 a.m. All kids, ages 14 and under will run for free and receive a free T-Shirt. Get Fit Tulsa has made children’s health and fitness a top priority. This citizens’ group is focused on lowering the high obesity rate among Tulsa school-aged children by offering them innovative health and wellness activities. Start! Tulsa Heart Walk is set for Saturday, April 12 at Veteran’s Park – 1875 S. Boulder Drive. Registration is at 8 a.m., followed by the walk at 9 a.m. The American Heart Association will celebrate its 24th annual Tulsa Heart Walk. The event promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. It will encompass a three-mile scenic walk along River Parks with a celebration afterward. National Start! Walking at Work Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16 and can take place at any home or office in the U.S. The American Heart Association encourages you to take a 30-minute walk during the day. By joining others across the country, you can be part of the solution to get America moving.
